Our Lead Pastor

A pastor is an elder, but with a special focus on teaching, vision, and guiding the church. All elders share the work of shepherding, but the pastor leads through preaching, prayer, and helping the church stay centered on Jesus. It's a role that takes preparation and accountability, but it doesn’t make the pastor “more important” than anyone else—just a servant called to lead.

Rev. Keon L. Abner

Keon Lashon Abner serves as the Lead Pastor of Bridge City Church, where he gives himself to preaching the Word, shepherding the people of God, and leading with conviction, clarity, and care.

Keon is an ordained Teaching Elder in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, and his ministry is marked by a deep love for Scripture, a burden for discipleship, and a steady call for the gospel to shape real life. He believes the church should be rooted in the Word, centered on Jesus, formed by grace, and sent into the world as a faithful witness to the kingdom of God.

Alongside his ministry at Bridge City, Keon serves as the Regional Church Planting Director for the EPC Northeast, supporting and strengthening new church plants across the Presbyteries of the Alleghenies and the East.

His greatest joy is at home as Ashley Cherise’s husband and the father of Kailyn, Ashtyn, and Brooklyn. His love for people, sense of humor, passion for the gospel, and commitment to the city shape the way he leads and fuel his call to serve both the church and the city.
